MSNBC’s Joy Reid Lashes Out At GOP, Lies About Holocaust Book Bans

Political News

On Tuesday night’s The ReidOut on MSNBC, host Joy Reid lashed out at the idea that “mainstream” Republicans are any different that Donald Trump or the people he had dinner with last week. During her latest unhinged rant, Reid falsely claimed Republicans are banning books about the Holocaust and they’re “suing Disney because they don’t like the fact that Disney makes films with too many gay people in them.” This is all obviously false but that never stops Reid from pushing her leftist agenda.

During a discussion on Trump’s dinner with two anti-Semites, Reid attempted to smear the entire Republican Party because she was angry that “mainstream Republicans” are getting a pass because they’re not Trump:

This is a party whose main—forget Donald Trump for a moment, their mainstream politicians are banning books about the Holocaust. Their mainstream supposedly politicians are banning books by black and LGBTQ authors. Their mainstream politicians are suing Disney because they don’t like the fact that Disney makes films with too many gay people in them, and they don’t like it. Don’t say gay is the policy in a mainstream Republican state that he runs. They’re banning protests.

Of course, Reid is lying once again. The only verified example of a school banning a book having to do with the Holocaust is in a Tennessee school district where the book had explicit language that was not appropriate for the grade level it was taught in. It wasn’t because the school wanted to ban the teaching of the Holocaust.

Reid continued howling: “This kid is an idiot who an idiot Nazi who does a show in his parents’ basement. But the problem is the supposedly better Republicans are doing the stuff I just mentioned and they get called mainstream just because their name isn’t Trump.”

Once Reid was finished, failed former Senator Claire McCaskill jumped in to attack Republicans for not voting for the Orwellian named Defense of Marriage Act which radically infringe on the religious liberty of Americans and faith organizations

“I think you can look no further than the vote today on the Senate floor, where you had the majority of the Republicans vote against a bill that was loaded down with protection for religion and religious differences on the subject of marital equality,” McCaskill falsely claimed.

“[C]ulture wars have become the main attraction in the Republican Party,” McCaskill bemoaned as if Republicans are the ones waging them instead of responding to the cultural rot the left is imposing on the country.

“I don’t think most Americans think that’s what this should all be about, and I think in the long run, they’re going to pay a price for it,” she predicted.

Reid jumped in one last time to attack the GOP. “If you’re making it illegal to teach about the Holocaust without telling the other side or the other side of slavery, don’t sit there and get mad at Trump for eating with the Nazi,” Reid sneered. “Because maybe you ought to look at your own policies and talk to the man and the woman in the mirror.”

JOY REID: But, I have to go back, and I hate to harp on it.

This is my challenge, Claire. This kid is an idiot who an idiot Nazi who does a show in his parents’ basement. But the problem is the supposedly better Republicans are doing the stuff I just mentioned and they get called mainstream just because their name isn’t Trump.

CLAIRE MCCASKILL: Well, I think it’s a fair point. I think you can look no further than the vote today on the Senate floor, where you had the majority of the Republicans vote against a bill that was loaded down with protection for religion and religious differences on the subject of marital equality, but it stood for an important principle, and that is marriage, legal marriage should be recognized in every state in the union. It was a really frankly not a bold step. It is something that the vast majority of Americans agree with, but the majority of the elected Republicans in the Senate rejected it. Only 12 voted for it, and the majority of them are retiring.

So it is really fair, I think, to say that the culture wars have become the main attraction in the Republican Party. Not policy, not how big should the government be or what tax policies should be or even what foreign policy should be, but rather culture wars. And I don’t think most Americans think that’s what this should all be about, and I think in the long run, they’re going to pay a price for it, Joy.

REID: In the end, if you’re making it illegal to teach about the Holocaust without telling the other side or the other side of slavery, don’t sit there and get mad at Trump for eating with the Nazi. Because maybe you ought to look at your own policies and talk to the man and the woman in the mirror. That’s all I’m saying.
