President Donald Trump announced that his chief of staff, Susie Wiles, is leaving the Trump administration.

She will be replaced by Stephen Miller, deputy chief of staff and homeland security adviser. Miller has been a leader in Trump’s successful crackdown on illegal immigration.

Wiles resigned last night, a White House official told the Daily Signal. She was the first-ever female chief of staff.

“I am pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Miller, the current Deputy Chief of Staff of the Trump Administration, and one of my most trusted advisors, will become the Chief of Staff starting Monday, November 9, 2026,” Trump wrote. “Susie Wiles, who has done an outstanding job, will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation. I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff.”

The switch-up comes days after Republicans’ massive losses in the midterm elections. Democrats won control of both the House and Senate, flipping seven Senate races from red to blue.

Wiles commented on the major staffing change, saying she maintains her commitment to Trump.

“Serving President Trump in the White House has been the honor of a lifetime,” she said. “I’m so proud to have been a part of what we’ve accomplished together, from securing our border and cutting taxes to strengthening our economy and putting America First.”

“More than anything, I’m grateful for the extraordinary people I’ve had the privilege of working alongside. While my role may be changing, my commitment to the President and the mission never will,” she added.

Miller is the founder of America First Legal, a conservative nonprofit law firm that aims “to unapologetically and boldly defend the rights of everyday Americans,” according to its website.

Calley Means, who resigned as a “Make America Healthy Again” policy adviser, went on Joe Rogan’s podcast Friday to accuse Wiles of prioritizing political fundraising over delivering on MAHA promises.

“Susie said to me many times: ‘We need money for the midterms, Calley. We need money for the midterms,’” Means said.

Vice President JD Vance said he was “very grateful to Susie for her friendship and service to the president and our country.”

“Stephen Miller is an amazing patriot and will do great things,” he wrote on X. “Congrats to him on a well deserved promotion!”

“Patriots in control,” War Secretary Pete Hegseth said.
