Whoopi, Hostin Suggest GOP Plot Behind Why Bowman Pulled Fire Alarm

Political News

Over the weekend, we saw the liberal media rush to spread New York Democratic Representative Jamaal Bowman’s disinformation that he set off a fire alarm in a House office building because he thought that’s how doors worked. But, on Monday, a couple of the radical liberals on ABC’s The View had their own conspiratorial theories. According to both moderator Whoopi Goldberg and racist co-host Sunny Hostin, the door he was trying to get through was closed as part of a Republican plot to stop him from voting.

Despite the fact Bowman and his office admitted he set off the fire alarm, faux conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin asserted he “allegedly pulled a fire alarm.” “He claims that it was because he was trying to get to the House floor,” she added while pivoting her words to admit he did pull the alarm. “The video seems — or the pictures suggest otherwise.”

Hostin decried any suggestion that Bowman pulled a “stunt” and cooked up a conspiracy theory that there was an ulterior and nefarious reason the emergency exit Bowman was trying to get through was closed: “I know Jamal, and so again, I’m a little biased, but the doors that are normally open so that he could get to the chambers to read were somehow miraculously closed. How did that happen?”

She equated it to being stuck in an elevator and pushing all the buttons in a blind panic. “And so, yes. Sometimes you’re freaking out and you’re in an elevator and you’re pressing all the buttons!” she shouted.

Goldberg suggested the only “stunt” going on was from Republicans in wanting Democrats to read the Continuing Resolution to fund the government in a short amount of time. This also, according to her, included Republicans closing the emergency exit to sabotage Bowman, thus it was reasonable for him to pull the fire alarm:

People who pull this kind of stunt who say — and you only have three minutes to read it. I kind of think, “Oh, all right. Well, maybe.” Because I know I would have pressed everything if you told me I had to get in there. I would have pressed whatever I had to press to get the door open because I know you would expect me not to be there to vote so you don’t know.

This wasn’t the first time The View had cooked up a wild, unsupported conspiracy theory putting Republicans at the center of clandestine plots to sabotage Democrats. Back in January, they suggested Republicans were the reason “behind” why there were classified documents in President Biden’s Delaware garage. They also suggested it was GOP ninjas who broke into the White House and “planted” the cocaine in the West Wing.

What made Goldberg’s Monday argument even more ridiculous was that she suggested she didn’t know what fire alarms looked like.

That argument morphed from it just looked like a random, unmarked button on the wall to ALL alarms having glass covers that need to be broken to she couldn’t make out what the fire alarm looked like despite it being shown to them on a giant screen:

GOLDBERG: I don’t know because I don’t it – I haven’t seen the fire alarm button. So, I don’t know.

HAINES: It probably said “fire.”

FARAH GRIFFIN: It has a fire exit-only sign. It wasn’t an accident.

[Pictures of the fire alarm appear on screen]

GOLDBERG: No, because you have to break glass to get to the button. So, I don’t know —

FARAH GRIFFIN: Um, I don’t know. It seems pretty fire-alarm-y to me.

GOLDBERG: I don’t know. I don’t know. It seems like a button. I can’t see the button.

HAINES: I think he could. He was a little closer.

Goldberg has bragged multiple times on the show that she had undergone Lasik eye surgery earlier this year and it was life-changing.

Maybe she should ask for her money back.

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: It’s absurd that you would expect someone to vote on a multitrillion-dollar bill they didn’t have time to read.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Which brings us to —

FARAH GRIFFIN: My buddy, Jamaal Bowman!

GOLDBERG: All right, so.

FARAH GRIFFIN: So, Democratic House member allegedly pulled a fire alarm. He claims that it was because he was trying to get to the House floor. The video seems — or the pictures suggest otherwise. I think it was because the CR [Continuing Resolution] came out and he wanted more time to read the bill. But rather, again, than Congress passing a bill that would allow for him to have more time to read it, he literally pulled the fire alarm.

It would be, like, if I didn’t like the next topic and I pulled the fire alarm and ran out. We just can’t do that.

[Crosstalk]

ANA NAVARRO: Well, what’s actually ridiculous though is that there are MAGA Republicans that are somehow equating this guy doing this infantile stunt with January 6. To my knowledge, nobody died because this guy pulled that stunt. To my knowledge, nobody was bleeding, nobody was attacked because of this stunt.

SUNNY HOSTIN: And I don’t want to call it a stunt yet. There’s going to be an investigation. I know Jamal, and so again, I’m a little biased, but the doors that are normally open so that he could get to the chambers to read were somehow miraculously closed. How did that happen?

And so, yes. Sometimes you’re freaking out and you’re in an elevator and you’re pressing all the buttons!

GOLDBERG: It goes to what you were saying. It goes to them not having the time. It is quite possible that he was trying to get in there, and the door

HOSTIN: And panicked!

GOLDBERG: — not panic, but if you are not looking because there’s a door that’s normally open, you just go and you press a button.

SARA HAINES: Not the firearm alarm button! I’m scared of that button!

GOLDBERG: I don’t know because I don’t it – I haven’t seen the fire alarm button. So, I don’t know.

HAINES: It probably said “fire.”

FARAH GRIFFIN: It has a fire exit only sign. It wasn’t an accident.

GOLDBERG: No, because you have to break glass to get to the button. So, I don’t know —

GOLDBERG: I don’t know. I don’t know. It seems like a button. I can’t see the button.

HAINES: I think he could. He was a little closer.

NAVARRO: Well, did anybody in this audience pull a fire alarm to get out of a seventh grade test?

[Laughter]

HAINES: Brian, raise your hand.

FARAH GRIFFIN: We know you did, Brian.

GOLDBERG: I guess my point is, you know, if you are not sure, then put it up for — find out what it was.

HOSTIN: There’s going to be an investigation.

GOLDBERG: As opposed to just saying, you know, you did this to do that because when people pull stunts, I tend to think that they may be more full of it than he is, you know? People who pull this kind of stunt who say — and you only have three minutes to read it. I kind of think, “Oh, all right. Well, maybe.” Because I know I would have pressed everything if you told me I had to get in there. I would have pressed whatever I had to press to get the door open because I know you would expect me not to be there to vote so you don’t know.

We’ll be right back.
