Kellie Pickler ends silence with statement months after her husband’s death by suicide

Breaking News

Kellie Pickler has provided a statement to People months after her husband Kyle Jacobs passed away due to suicide earlier this year in February.

“One of the most beautiful lessons my husband taught me was in a moment of a crisis, if you don’t know what to do, ‘do nothing, just be still,'” she noted in the statement, according to the outlet. “I have chosen to heed his advice.”

Pickler, who rose to fame as a contestant on “American Idol,” described this period as “the darkest time” of her life.

“Thank you to my family, friends, and supporters, for the countless letters, calls, and messages that you have sent my way,” she said. “It has truly touched my soul and it’s helping me get through the darkest time in my life. As many of you have told me, you are all in my prayers.”

“I am planning an intimate memorial for my husband, which will happen later this fall, that is what Kyle would have wanted,” she noted, according to People.

Jacobs passed away due to suicide, an autopsy report confirmed, People has previously reported.

The couple had been married for more than ten years.

“The Academy is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Kyle Jacobs, a talented Nashville songwriter & producer and the husband of Kellie Pickler. In 2014 Jacobs won an ACM Award as producer of Lee Brice’s ‘I Drive Your Truck.’ Join us in sending condolences, love & healing,” the Academy of Country Music tweeted in February in response to the news of the man’s’ death.
