All Republican presidential candidates should support a national 15-week abortion ban, Pence declares

Breaking News

Former Vice President Mike Pence asserted that every GOP presidential candidate should back a national 15-week abortion ban.

During a speech at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority Policy Conference, Pence asserted that “every Republican candidate for president should support a ban on abortion before 15 weeks as a minimum nationwide standard.”

But while Pence promoted pro-life policies on Friday, Biden was pushing precisely the opposite, noting that he would veto a national abortion ban if Congress were ever to pass one.

Planned Parenthood Action Fund and other pro-choice groups have endorsed Biden for re-election.

“We know, clear as day, that if anti-abortion politicians gain control of the White House, they will exploit their power toward their ultimate goal: a national abortion ban,” Planned Parenthood Action Fund president and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson said in a statement.

“That is why we must re-elect President Biden and Vice President Harris: people we can trust to keep rebuilding a path forward, because we know the journey to rebuilding our rights will be met with challenges. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is committed to this fight alongside the Biden-Harris administration, and all of the dedicated reproductive health, rights, and justice champions across the country,” McGill said.

Pence announced a presidential bid earlier this month, a move that meant mounting a challenge against former President Donald Trump, who Pence served with from early 2017 through early 2021. Pence had previously served as governor of Indiana and as a lawmaker in the U.S. House of Representatives. Polling indicates that Trump currently holds a significant lead over the rest of the Republican presidential primary pack.
