Nets Ignore Reports of Paul Pelosi’s Toxic Behavior After DUI Arrest

Political News

On Wednesday morning, a lawyer for Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, showed up on his behalf in a Napa County, California courthouse to plead not guilty during Pelosi’s arraignment on DUI charges. Court documents also revealed more details about the night Pelosi was arrested for driving with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.

Predictably, all three evening news network broadcasts ignored the latest revelations about Speaker Pelosi’s drunk driving husband in favor of local weather reports, an erupting volcano in Iceland, and a large hail storm in Canada.

During Fox News Channel’s Special Report, senior correspondent Claudia Cowan reported that “according to court documents, Pelosi’s breath reeked, and he flunked a sobriety test after he allegedly drove his Porsche into the path of an SUV injuring that driver and totaling both cars.”

Cowan revealed that “Highway patrol officers noted Pelosi’s eyes were red and watery. He was unsteady on his feet and his speech was slurred. When they asked for his I.D. the 82-year-old handed over his license along with an 1199 foundation membership card. That’s a charitable organization that supports police and their families.”

According to court documents, Pelosi’s “blood alcohol level was just above the legal limit. But it was taken two hours after the crash, time for Pelosi to sober up. But a licensed phlebotomist was needed to come to the station late on a Saturday night.”

“The Napa district attorney says if the 48-year-old SUV driver had broken bones, or suffered more serious injuries the charges here would’ve been felonies,” Cowan reported.

“Police release dashcam video all the time, but despite repeated requests from Fox News the video of Pelosi’s arrest is still under wraps,” Cowan added.

This bias by omission by the three networks was made possible by Nature’s Bounty on ABC, Prevagen on CBS, and Progressive on NBC. Their information is linked so you can let them know how you feel about their biased reporting.

BRET BAIER: As House Speaker Nancy Pelosi travels in Asia, husband Paul was in court and is pleading not guilty to misdemeanor driving under the influence charges related to a May car crash in northern California. The court documents show some new details as new questions arise over whether he should face stiffer charges. Senior correspondent Claudia Cowan joins us now from Napa. Good evening Claudia.

CLAUDIA COWAN: Good evening to you, Bret. Paul Pelosi did not appear in person his lawyer entered not guilty pleas and then left in a hurry. Dodging questions about her client’s behavior that night. According to court documents, Pelosi’s breath reeked, and he flunked a sobriety test after he allegedly drove his Porsche into the path of an SUV injuring that driver and totaling both cars.

Highway patrol officers noted Pelosi’s eyes were red and watery. He was unsteady on his feet and his speech was slurred. When they asked for his I.D. the 82-year-old handed over his license along with an 1199 foundation membership card. That’s a charitable organization that supports police and their families.

If he was hoping that would get him special treatment it didn’t work. They arrested Pelosi and locked them up for a few hours at the Napa county jail. Here’s his mug shot and he was charged with two misdemeanor accounts of drunk driving causing injury. His blood alcohol level was just above the legal limit. But it was taken two hours after the crash, time for Pelosi to sober up.

But a licensed phlebotomist was needed to come to the station late on a Saturday night. Legal analysts say that may account for the delay. The Napa district attorney says if the 48-year-old SUV driver had broken bones, or suffered more serious injuries the charges here would’ve been felonies. Nancy Pelosi who was in Rhode Island at the time had no comment on her husband’s arrest which was filmed by highway patrol officers. Police release dashcam video all the time, but despite repeated requests from Fox News the video of Pelosi’s arrest is still under wraps.
