Murder trial begins in ‘bloodbath’ slaughter of Long Island teens who ‘disrespected’ MS-13 gang on social media

Breaking News

The murder trial against one of the suspects in a slaughter of Long Island teenagers that was called a “bloodbath” began on Monday.

Leniz “Little Devil” Escobar is accused of luring the five teenagers into a wooded area in April 2017 where members of the brutal MS-13 gang ambushed them and murdered four. One narrowly survived and testified in court on Monday against Escobar.

Escobar allegedly told the five males that they would smoke marijuana in the woods near a baseball field, but instead they were hacked and slashed to death by gang members. Prosecutors described it as “a horrific frenzy of violence” as the victims wailed in pain.

“Everyone down on the ground,” testified Alexander Ruiz, who was 15 years old at the time of the incident. “So we go down on our knees. Nobody move. They said we were going to die. They had machetes. I ran and ran. Thank God I managed to escape.”

Prosecutors said that the five boys were targeted because they had “disrespected” the gang on social media. They claim there were as many as a dozen gang members in the ambush, some as young as 15 years old.

The mutilated bodies of the four boys were found two days later. “They were lying on top of each other,” testified Nassau County Detective Donald Britton. “There was a lot of blood.”

Escobar allegedly tossed a cellphone out of a car along with a SIM card that was damaged so badly investigators were unable to garner any information from it.

She was charged with racketeering over the brutal killings.

Escobar was 17 years old at the time of the incident. Her attorney said she has pleaded innocent and has always maintained that she is innocent of the allegations against her.
