Thugs violently attack dad as he hangs Christmas lights with his daughter outside family’s Chicago home

Breaking News

A Chicagofather is dead after he was violently beaten while he decorated his family’s home for Christmas.

What are the details?

Authorities said that Jose Téllez was hanging Christmas lights with his young daughter outside of his home on Saturday night when two suspects reportedly approached him and beat him to death with “blunt objects.”

One neighbor said that she heard the young girl’s screams and rushed over to help.

“My dad, my dad, he’s hurt,” the unnamed neighbor recalled the girl crying. “I told her to get a blanket to put on his head. There was a lot of blood.”

Though he was rushed to a local hospital, he died from his injuries.

Téllez son, David, told WFLD-TV that his father is irreplaceable.

“My dad, you know, he was a hard worker. He tried to give us everything we needed,” he said. “He was just the best dad.”

Téllez friend and neighbor, Silverio Nodal, said that the late man was best described as “a family man” and “a hardworking guy.”

Nodal added that neighbors ought to look out for one another.

“Something must be done, should be done,” Nodal said. “It’s not only the police work. We as individuals, what can we do for our neighbors, what are we contributing?”

“It’s a shame,” Nodal said. “This is supposed to be the best season, the Christmas season. It’s a family thing. These things shouldn’t be happening. It’s a big shock for all of us.”

A GoFundMe page to defer the cost of the late dad’s funeral and to benefit his family has received more than $26,000 in donations at the time of this reporting.

Authorities continue to investigate the vicious attack, and the station reports that as of Monday, police did not have any suspects in custody.

Téllez leaves behind a distraught wife and three children.
