Marvel Comics to introduce a gay Captain America designed by transgender artist

Breaking News

Marvel Comics will introduce a gay version of Captain America into their comic book universe, and he was created by a transgender writer to celebrate LGBT Pride Month.

The new character is named Aaron Fischer and he will be introduced in a new comic book series titled, “The United States of Captain America.” The series will explore various people who don the guise of Captain America, but the first issue will highlight the gay teen version.

The gay captain is designed by Jan Bazaldua, a transgender comic book artist.

“I really enjoyed designing him, and as a transgender person, I am happy to be able to present an openly gay person who admires Captain America and fights against evil to help those who are almost invisible to society,” said Bazaldua.

“While I was drawing him, I thought, well, Cap fights against super-powerful beings and saves the world almost always, but Aaron helps those who walk alone in the street with problems that they face every day,” Bazaldua added. “I hope people like the end result!”

Josh Trujillo, one of the co-writers of the comic book, said that the gay captain is inspired by “activists, leaders, and everyday folks pushing for a better life,” and that he would fight for other runaways and homeless people.

The United States of Captain America #1 will be available for purchase in comic shops on June 2, coinciding with the beginning of LGBT Pride Month.

Marvel made similar headlines in January 2020 when the company revealed that it was planning on an openly transgender character to be included in a superhero movie being shot at the time. Meanwhile, in the DC universe of comic book heroes, a lesbian actress portrayed a gay superhero in the “Batwoman” television series in 2018.

  1. Oh dear God no! Are they also going to make him a transgender/mixed race/bi-lingual/homeless/alcoholic/drug user? Better shut up and not give them any ideas! This pandering is just stupid! Boycott Marvel Comics!

  2. This wokeness is getting to be too much. Now you’re ruining comic books, cartoons and shows. This is a little off topic, but the wokeness has ruined the James Bond series with the newest iteration due to come out this year. I’m starting too loose movies that I would pay money to see. Oh well, the wokeness won’t stop until the money peters out. The silver lining for me is I will have more time to enjoy other passions.

  3. There goes Marvel from my family’s viewing list. This will include my Streaming Service (to include a refund).

  4. And once again, they prove they’ve stopped engaging in Creative Writing.

“He’s Captain America, but he’s Gay! Creative! Cool! Buy Our Comics, Please!”

I can create new and interesting characters. Hell, I’m writing a book with more interesting characters than what Marvel can spew out these days. Ok, maybe I’m biased here, but the point is, defining a character JUST by their sexuality is doing not just your readers a serious disservice, but its being rude to gays as well.

I have a friend who just happens to be bisexual. But you know what, its not like “Hey, this is my Bisexual friend, Johnny!”

It’s actually, “This is my friend John.” and if sexual preferences somehow comes up, its not my job to mention it. I respect Johnny’s private life.

You could have a character patterned after Captain America, and you could create scenes, subtle ones, that show that he’s gay. And maybe have the topic come up every now and then. But, just like my bisexual friend, I seriously doubt Gay people go around making their ENTIRE life about the fact they’re Gay. They have other things that define who they are.
