Dear Jack,

A May 19 “Daily Show” video takes the President and several commentators’ words (mine included) completely out of context to portray the President in a negative light. It’s also funny and still trending on Twitter with more than 20,000 retweets.

A similarly edited video about Joe Biden was also created early in April. It too was satirical. That video was immediately labeled “Manipulated Media” By Twitter. It was the second time Twitter had targeted a video critical of Biden. According to Twitter’s new policy, the company will label, but not remove, media when it has a “reason to believe that media, or the context in which media are presented, are significantly and deceptively altered or manipulated.”

For the record, I’d like you to explain the difference between satire and satire. Unless satire by the left is admissible but by the right deplorable. But that would make Twitter a biased publisher, not an objective platform.

What I really hope is that you will realize how stupid this policy is and just get out of the way of satire.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

L. Brent Bozell III
