CNN’s Camerota Declares Victory for Fox News in Dominion Settlement

Breaking News

On Tuesday, CNN Tonight co-host Alisyn Camerota took to the airwaves during The Lead With Jake Tapper to bemoan that the Fox News Channel was able to settle out of court in the Dominion lawsuit for about half of the original 1.6 billion dollar lawsuit without apologizing. She declared that this was a “victory for Fox” and that this was “the best outcome that Fox could ever have hoped for.”

Discussing Fox’s settlement shortly after the news broke, Tapper asked Camerota if she was surprised by the outcome. “I haven’t been surprised by any of this. Nor am I surprised by the settlement. I predicted there would be a settlement all along because Fox doesn’t want to air its dirty laundry in a court case,” Camerota exclaimed.

She then huffed that the settlement is “half of what Dominion asked for.” Camerota wasn’t satisfied with Fox having to cough up nearly a billion dollars to Dominion because “It’s chump change for Fox. They make more than a billion dollars a year.”

Camerota then whined that “This is a victory for Fox. They don’t have to put their big stars on the stand, and they didn’t even have to issue a public apology. When you guys say that they admitted that they lied. No, they didn’t. They’re saying that we acknowledge the court’s findings that certain claims about Dominion appear…to be false.”

“That doesn’t say we lied,” Camerota continued. “That says they’re false, and they say certain claims they’re not even saying they made those claims. They’re not even saying which hosts of theirs made their claims. I think that this is the best outcome that Fox could ever have hoped for. Once they got themselves into this mess.”

It’s obvious that Camerota and the rest of CNN is extremely bitter because in their eyes, Fox is now saved from embarrassing details that could come out if the lawsuit went to trial.

As a former Fox News host, Camerota clearly has a grudge against her former employer. Wouldn’t you feel the same if you ended up at a low rated network like CNN after working at a ratings powerhouse like Fox?

On top of that, CNN is also being extremely hypocritical. You’ll recall that the network settled with Covington Catholic High School student Nicholas Sandmann after smearing him as a racist for out of context footage taken during the 2019 March for Life rally. CNN pretended that they never botched the story despite settling.

ALISYN CAMEROTA: I haven’t been surprised by any of this. Nor am I surprised by the settlement. I predicted there would be a settlement all along because Fox doesn’t want to air its dirty laundry in a court case and forgive me, I don’t share quite Elie’s, um, I guess being impressed at the outcome. This is half of what Dominion asked for. Let’s remember. And yes, obviously, it’s a big windfall for Dominion. It’s chump change for Fox. They make more than a billion dollars a year. Their news division. And so this is, I think—this is a victory for Fox. They don’t have to put their big stars on the stand, and they didn’t even have to issue a public apology. When you guys say that they admitted that they lied. No, they didn’t. They’re saying that we acknowledge the court’s findings that certain claims about Dominion appear, uh, about Dominion to be false. That doesn’t say we lied. That says they’re false, and they say certain claims they’re not even saying they made those claims. They’re not even saying which hosts of theirs made their claims. I think that this is the best outcome that Fox could ever have hoped for. Once they got themselves into this mess.

TAPPER: Well, we were translating it from lawyerese to English, but I take your point, Alisyn that they–

CAMEROTA: I mean they’re not gonna have to say anything on the air. They’re not gonna have to say on the air. We fudge the truth. We lied. We disseminated disinformation. They’re not gonna. I mean, at least with Gretchen’s settlement, Gretchen had a public statement that said. Something to the effect of we acknowledge. We apologize and regret the fact that Gretchen was not treated with respect and dignity. I mean, she got that in her settlement, and Dominion didn’t get that.
