BREAKING: Former President Donald Trump indicted by Manhattan grand jury

Breaking News

A grand jury in Manhattan indicted former President Donald Trump on Thursday afternoon according to numerous sources.

The New York Times reported that the precise charges are not yet known but that the investigation concerned Trump’s alleged hush-money payment to Stormy Daniels, an adult film star who claimed to have an extramarital affair with him.

Trump has become the first former president to ever be criminally indicted.

Supporters of the former president have warned those on the left that an indictment against Trump would make him far more popular and guarantee his nomination for the Republican presidential ticket in 2024.

Trump had predicted that he would be arrested on Tuesday, March 21, but no arrest was made.

“Protest, take our nation back!” he said in the statement he posted on the Truth Social platform.

A spokesperson for the former president later walked back the comments in a statement decrying the “George Soros-funded Radical Left Democrat prosecutor in Manhattan” but admitting there was no notification of an arrest.

Trump is also under investigation for alleged election interference in Georgia and also by a special counsel over the classified documents that were seized by the FBI at his residence at the Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.

Last week, officials increased security at the Manhattan courthouse apparently in anticipation of the indictment.

The former president faces a maximum sentence of four years in prison if he is convicted of the charges expected.

This is a developing story and additional information will be added.
