A young Pennsylvania boy is recovering after a scary incident at a new amusement park.
On Saturday, an unnamed 8-year-old boy was enjoying an afternoon of fun with his family at the Thrillz High Flying Adventure Park in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, northwest of Philadelphia, when he suddenly found himself in a scary situation. At some point, the boy began climbing down a rope ladder head first, and his neck became caught. The mishap caused the boy to become suspended in air by the neck, and he soon lost consciousness.
Fortunately, Thrillz staff appeared prepared for such a scenario. They managed to cut the boy down within 10 seconds, and two off-duty cops and a nurse quickly performed CPR while they waited for EMTs to arrive.

First responders managed to revive the boy at the amusement park, and he spoke to them before they took him to the hospital for further evaluation. According to a statement from Lisa and Nick Cannon, who own Thrillz, the boy’s injury was “not serious,” and he is expected to be “okay.”
“After our investigation and reviewing camera footage of today’s incident, we can say that the boy was seen climbing headfirst down a rope ladder and became tangled,” Lisa Cannon wrote in an email. “Within 10 seconds, our safety monitors formed a response team along with off-duty police officers and a nurse who was also on site. Our staff followed protocol and communicated via our internal radio system to our CPR and First Aid certified team members.
“Our thoughts are with the family and we will be contacting them soon,” the statement said, adding that the rope ladder fully complies with all American Society for Testing and Materials standards.
Despite the scare, the park remained open on Saturday, though the area where the boy became injured has been closed until additional safety measures can be installed. Investigators have ruled the incident an accident, the New York Post reported.
The King of Prussia location, which just opened three weeks ago, is one of two Thrillz parks in the country. The other park, located in Danbury, Connecticut, became popular because it offers an obstacle course similar to the one seen on the hit TV show, “Wipeout.”
