On an Inauguration Day edition of the NewsBusters Podcast, executive editor Tim Graham shares how the morning TV and the morning Washington Post were already boosting Joe Biden and feeling the weight of his task, the poor guy. The Post had not one special celebration section, but two for the day, one for Biden and one for Harris. Both were covered with a large photo covering the entire front and a large artwork covering the entire back page. Democrat newspapers go all out for an occasion like this.
Tim added his observations to a recent Rich Noyes review of the media’s partisan double standards on inaugurations from George H.W. Bush to Trump. Back in 1989, as Tim was about to join the MRC, the networks were eagerly hoping that Bush wouldn’t be anything like that supposedly horrible Ronald Reagan, who didn’t care about the poor people.
NewsBusters associate editor Scott Whitlock joins the conversation to help recount the last three inaugurations, like in 2009 when ABC’s Bill Weir insisted “even the seagulls” were awed by the crowds assembled for Barack Obama.
