LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Field Operations (OFO) officers intercepted hard narcotics with an estimated street value of more than $2.4 million in one enforcement action at the World Trade Bridge.

“Officers at the Laredo Port of Entry have heightened their enforcement efforts for these high-risk commodities, successfully disrupting the flow of deadly narcotics from entering our country,” said Port Director Gregory Alvarez, Laredo Port of Entry.

The seizure occurred on Monday, May 25, at the World Trade Bridge when a CBP officer referred a 1999 Ford F-550 pickup manifesting a saw machine for a secondary examination. Upon a canine and non-intrusive imaging inspection, CBP officers discovered alleged methamphetamine together with the commodity for a combined gross weight of more than 172 pounds. The actual final weight of the narcotics is yet to be determined but will be less than the gross weight.

CBP officers seized the narcotics. The case was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) special agents for further investigation.
