The conservative media keep reporting on Hunter Biden scandals, but the liberal networks from ABC to PBS just keep aerobically running away from doing any journalism on the president and his wayward son. It’s like they’re all incredibly pessimistic about what would happen if they did any of their own digging. Everyone knows if you took the same scandals and put them on Donald Trump Jr., there would be a flood of media coverage, not a drought.
MRC Director of Media Analysis Geoffrey Dickens brings his research on the never-ending Omission Express on this subject. There was one little boomlet of TV reporting on from April 19 to 23, and then it vanished again. They go weeks, even months without any utterance of Hunter Biden’s name, as if it was some sort of horrible concession to Trump to mention it.
Some of the latest charges might be dismissed as lurid, with crimes like “bribery” and “international sex trafficking” entering the conversation. Meanwhile, journalists like MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle bizarrely tell the president that his son has “no ties” to him, and the president responds with “My son has done nothing wrong.” The journalists who all insist Donald Trump needs to be fact-checked in real time just let lies like that waft through the air.
