Former cheerleading coach charged with molesting girls as young as 11, accused of sex crimes in multiple states

Breaking News

A former cheerleading coach for a cheer club and high school was charged with multiple felonies for allegedly molesting six girls whose ages range from teenagers all the way to as young as 11 years old.

Fox News reports Erick Joseph Kristianson of Antioch, Tennessee, was arrested in Fargo, North Dakota, on a warrant for sex crimes in Orange County, California.

The former coach at Orange County cheer club and Trabuco Hills High School in Mission Viejo, California, was charged with seven felony counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor under 14, five felony counts of a lewd act upon a child age 14 or 15, two felony counts of sexual penetration by foreign object of a minor under 18, one felony count of sexual penetration by a foreign objection of a minor under 16, and one felony count of oral copulation of a person under 16.

Kristianson could be sentenced to 105 years in prison, according to Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer.

The district attorney said that an additional five years and four months could be added to the prison sentence if the former coach is convicted of other charges he faces in Florida. Kristianson is accused of child molestation and child exhibition charges of four young cheerleaders in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The 44-year-old was arrested in 2022 in Daytona Beach, under suspicion that he masturbated on camera to three children between 11 and 13 years old, as well as touched the breasts of another 13-year-old girl. All these alleged victims were former students of Kristianson at his competitive cheer club in Daytona Beach.

Kristianson’s arrest in Florida caused a young woman to contact authorities in Orange County, California, to report that she was molested by the man when he was her coach when she was 14. This information led to an investigation on the other charges.

The accused worked as a cheerleading coach at Magic All-Stars in California from 2002 to 2008 and as an assistant cheer coach at Trabuco Hills High School in 2005, which is where he is alleged to have gained access to the young girls.

In addition, Kristianson was also arrested in Kansas in August 2022 on a warrant from Florida and was extradited to the Sunshine State for allegedly exposing himself to three teen girls on a FaceTime call.

He posted a $300,000 bond and was released.

“This was not a predator hiding in the shadows waiting to grab innocent girls. He was hiding in plain sight as he assaulted girl after girl, thinking he would never be caught because they trusted him as a coach,” the Orange County district attorney said.
