Disney’s attack dogs at ABC News were at it again Thursday, spewing dangerous disinformation about Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R). This unhinged screeching from the cast of The View involved faux conservative and Florida resident, Ana Navarro lying about “Ron DeSaster” planning to “ban the alphabet,” and joyless Joy Behar calling him and all Republicans “fascists” who were trying to keep people stupid.
Racist Whoopi Goldberg started the show by whining about groups like NewsBusters fact-checking their lies; finally admitting that Florida does indeed mandate black history be taught to students. But she huffed about it not being up to her standards:
It’s been mandated since 1994, but funding was never mandated. It’s been poorly enforced and 11 of 67 Florida school districts are considered to be meeting the mandate. Most districts limit instruction on black history to black history month. Then you should also know, Florida’s statute doesn’t want students to persuade towards a view that goes against state academic standards.
At no point did Goldberg disclose who conducted this purported review of Florida’s curriculum. And given The View’s willingness to lie about Florida’s education system, what she said can’t be trusted.
“But Ron, your own statutes says students should learn to understand the ramifications of prejudice and racism. But when you cherry-pick and decide what is going to be taught, it makes it hard for me to take you seriously,” she sneered.
She was also intent on grasping onto her precious lie suggesting DeSantis was trying to erase black people from American history. “Well, queer history is American history, is black history. There are black gay folks. There are black gay folks … Yeah, you’re not teaching it” she shouted.
Behar and racist Sunny Hostin teamed up to malign DeSantis by falsely claiming he didn’t want kids to have the kind of education he did and was pulling the ladder up behind him:
BEHAR: You know, Ron DeSantis went to Harvard and Yale.
SUNNY HOSTIN: Yes, he did.
BEHAR: So, he’s got a very good education. Now, he doesn’t want anybody else to have it.
“Because the less people know, the easier it is for those people to sort of gaslight them and snooker them,” Hostin proclaimed, giving away The View’s playbook in the process.
After misrepresenting what happened with the AP African-American Studies course from College Board, which was adopted in Florida after it was revised, Hostin delved into racist revisionist history and falsely suggested only blacks contributed to building up America:
HOSTIN: Everything else was fair game. You can learn about Latinos, you can learn about Japanese, you can learn about Asian, everybody, but not black folks, which are the very foundation of this country.
BEHAR: Those are the ones — the black community in this country has suffered from slavery that’s why he doesn’t want to talk about it.
HOSTIN: We built this country for free.
BEHAR: I know that. I mean, he doesn’t want people to know that because it will make white people feel bad.
“And we want our reparations for it and [DeSantis] doesn’t want to pay that,” multimillionaire Hostin demanded.
With Hostin fanning grievance, Navarro claimed “Ron DeSaster” was “fanning the flames of grievance, of white grievance.” She flailed her arms around as she bloviated about DeSantis “manufacturing culture wars that do not exist so that he can come out like William Wallace, the guy in Brave Heart — freedom!”
After once again recalling that she lived in Florida (thus benefiting from DeSantis’s policies), Navarro shouted about how much she detested waking up there:
Every day I wonder what he’s going to be. What’s the flavor du jour today? What’s he going to be against today? He’s against A.P. He’s against DEI, diversity, equity, and inclusion. He’s against ESG this week. He’s against electric stoves. He’s against LGBTQ.
It was during this screed that she pushed out her BIG LIE that DeSantis was “going to ban the alphabet.”
Things got even more dangerous as Behar lashed out at “[t]hese people, these fascists out there like DeSantis.” Recounting the 60s and 70s, Behar boasted about standing up to “fascist” Republicans. “There were many many fascists coming down the pike from Nixon and the rest of the fascists, that’s what they are,” she sneered.

Well, queer history is American history, is black history. There are black gay folks. There are black gay folks.
So, when you start cherry picking who is not — who is not enough to be taught, then, you know, you can’t really push back and say, “well, we’re not not teaching.” Yeah, you’re not teaching it.
American history is American history. The things that were good about America and the things that were bad about America are the way young minds learn to be better America. That’s how they learn.

SUNNY HOSTIN: Yes, he did.
BEHAR: So, he’s got a very good education. Now, he doesn’t want anybody else to have it.
HOSTIN: That’s famous, right? I mean, I took it seriously when Donald Trump said I love the under-educated.
BEHAR: The poorly educated.
HOSTIN: The poorly educated. He said that specifically. And I think Ron DeSantis is taking that page out of that playbook.
