White Privilege Virtue-Signaling Scarborough: I Wouldn’t Have Been Beaten Like Tyre

Breaking News

Joe Scarborough: woke, white-privilege-virtue-signaling warrior!

On today’s Morning Joe, Scarborough, commenting on the death of Tyre Nichols, claimed:

“No police officer would have done this to me when I was 29-years-old, a middle class white guy. Nobody–they wouldn’t have dared. Because they knew that if they did, if they beat the hell out of a 29-year-old, middle class white guy, that hell would rain down from above.”

How admirable of Joe to admit to his white privilege! But there’s one little problem with Scarborough’s virtue signaling. Five Memphis police officers beat a 29-year-old black man, and . . . hell promptly rained down on them!

In the blink of an eye, the five Memphis cops were all fired and . . . charged with murder! What greater hell than that could Scarborough imagine? Unsurprisingly, Scarborough failed to mention that inconvenient truth, since it would have undercut his virtuous boasting.Mika Brzezinski Joe Scarborough Al Sharpton MSNBC Morning Joe 2-1-23

Al Sharpton agreed with Scarborough, saying, “I don’t believe [police] would have done this to a white young man in Memphis, Tennessee.”

Sharpton also mentioned that in a conversation with Scarborough just after the news of the Tyre Nichols case broke:

“You said to me on the phone, they would have never done this to me.”

Scarborough was apparently eager to get his virtue-signaling on the record at the earliest possible moment.

Will Joe’s fellow liberals call him out on the gaping fallacy in his virtue-signaling? Don’t bet on it!

On Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough saying that as a 29-year middle class white guy, police wouldn’t have beaten him like they beat Tyre Nichols because the police knew that “hell would rain down from above,” was sponsored in part by All State, Sleep Number, and Chewy

JOE SCARBOROUGH: This tragedy, again, shifts the focus, as we’ve talked about, from, from race just a little bit in this case to say, okay, we obviously have to, we have to focus on racism in policing where there is racism in policing. But this really does turn the focus on the victim, and the victim being black.

And the fact that no police officer would have done this to me when I was 29-years-old, a middle class white guy. Nobody–they wouldn’t have dared. Because they knew that if they did, if they beat the hell out of a 29-year-old, middle class white guy, that hell would rain down from above. Just would! That’s the reality!

So I’m curious, you know, we grow up and we learn about the social contract, what we all do, and being part of that social contract. We, we give up some rights, and we pay taxes, and in return we’re protected.

I’m just curious. What do we do to make that social contract apply equally to 29-year-old black men like it does right now to 29-year-old white men when it comes to policing?

AL SHARPTON: I think you raise a critical point and you said to me, minutes after we heard about this, you said to me on the phone, they would have never done this to me.

Which showed even black police officers treat blacks differently than they treat whites. Cause you have five black policemen here, who I don’t believe would have done this to a white young man in Memphis, Tennessee.
