Fonda To Kimmel: Climate Protest Arrest Put ‘Our Bodies On The Line’

Breaking News

The fake bravery of left-wing political activism was on display on Thursday’s edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live! on ABC as actresses Jane Fonda and Sally Field patting themselves on their back for getting arrested a climate change protest with the former claiming they were “putting our bodies on the line.”

The duo was joined by Lily Tomlin and Rita Moreno as the quartet was promoting their new film 80 for Brady, when Kimmel brought up other developments, “I want to put a picture up on the wall if you don’t mind, speaking of climate change, the environment. Everyone, everyone other than Rita being arrested at various protests and, boy, the three of you look so happy to be arrested. Jane is a bad influence, isn’t she? Jane, did you make this happen? Did you encourage this?”

The pictures in question show the ladies in various states of cheer. From sticking tongues out for the camera to making heart shapes with their hands to simply smiling for the camera, clearly nobody is an any danger.

Still, Fonda expressed that, “Every single one of them thanked me and said they found it a transformative experience.” No doubt the North Vietnamese anti-aircraft crew did the same.

Field then joined to claim this had to be done, “At that point, we needed to be arrested. Because—because– we couldn’t let Jane be arrested again, otherwise, they would take her away for a week. Is that what it is?”

After Fonda interrupted to clarify, “for many months,” Field lamented “She would have been gone for many months.”

Portraying this detention as a great act of sacrifice, Field explained, “Yeah, literally and so, we all said, we threw ourselves on the sword.  While, ‘we’ll go– we’ll and then, you know, they just detain us there.’”

Trying to one up Field’s melodrama, Fonda added, “No, but the crisis is so serious that we have to move from being concerned about it to taking action and putting our bodies on the line.”

They were in such danger that they are now joking about it on national television.

This segment was sponsored by Liberty Mutual.

JIMMY KIMMEL: I want to put a picture up on the wall if you don’t mind, speaking of climate change, the environment. Everyone, everyone other than Rita being arrested at various protests and, boy, the three of you look so happy to be arrested. Jane is a bad influence, isn’t she?

JANE FONDA: Yeah.

KIMMEL: Jane, did you make this happen? Did you encourage this?

FONDA: Yeah.

KIMMEL: When you have friends that are arrested, do they ever get upset with you for–

FONDA: Every single one of them thanked me—

KIMMEL: Really?

FONDA: — and said they found it a transformative experience.

KIMMEL: Wow.

SALLY FIELD: At that point, we needed to be arrested. Because—because– we couldn’t let Jane be arrested again, otherwise, they would take her away for a week. Is that what it is?

FONDA: For Many months.

FIELD: Many months.

FONDA: We had a contract.

FIELD: She would have been gone for many months.

KIMMEL: Yeah, the three strikes law has applied to you, Jane,–

FIELD: Yeah, literally and so, we all said, we threw ourselves on the sword.  While, “we’ll go– we’ll and then, you know, they just detain us there.”

FONDA: No, but the crisis is so serious—

KIMMEL: Yeah.

FONDA: that we have to move from being concerned about it to taking action and putting our bodies on the line.
