Former NBA player Matt Barnes believes athletes should compete according to birth gender

Former NBA player Matt Barnes believes athletes should compete in sports against others of the same birth gender.

During an interview with VladTV, Barnes was asked what he thought about the potential of transgender athletes playing in the WNBA.

Barnes said that he thought each person should choose how to live their own life, but that the issue of sports is another matter.

He said that “whatever you’re born … I feel like you should play in that space.”

Barnes said that he is “pro-make your choice. Do you,” he said. But he described sports as “a different beast” and said that he thinks individuals born as women should compete in women’s sports while people born as men should compete in men’s sports.

He indicated that he respects everyone’s personal choices but that in the sports arena, the issue represents “a line that shouldn’t be crossed.”

The issue of whether biological men should be permitted to compete in women’s sports remains a point of intense societal debate.

The controversy was clearly spotlighted when Lia Thomas, a biological man who identifies as a woman, racked up wins while competing against women as a University of Pennsylvania swimmer.

“The very simple answer is that I’m not a man,” Thomas said, according to Sports Illustrated. “I’m a woman, so I belong on the women’s team. Trans people deserve that same respect every other athlete gets.”

In a move that demonstrated the absurdity of radical leftist gender ideology, the school even hailed Thomas as “the first Quaker female swimmer to win an NCAA individual title.”

The transgender movement has impacted other sports as well, such as skateboarding. “I have been in three different contests with trans women, two of which I placed second,” female skateboarder Taylor Silverman noted in a post earlier this year.
