‘They Should Do It’ Lemon Supports Dems Voting for Cheney in Primary

Political News

On Thursday night’s Don Lemon Tonight, Lemon and two of his guests CNN commentator Nia-Malika Henderson and Republican political strategist Scott Jennings discussed anti-Trump Republican Liz Cheney’s primary challenge and whether she can survive it, or if she will be ousted on August 16.

“Liz Cheney is doing well in terms of raising tons of money but we all know that that doesn’t necessarily translate to votes” Henderson claimed adding that “she’s essentially kind of pleaded with Democrats to cross over and help her win this primary in August because she knows that the writing is on the wall for her.”

Lemon jumped in and cut her off to claim “that makes sense” and asked “why wouldn’t they do it? I mean if they really cared they should do it!”

Henderson replied that “they [Wyoming Democrats] might but the idea you’re going to amass enough Democrats to do that is a little unlikely, maybe. We’ll see.” The uncertainty was clearly eating away at Lemon who butted in again to make his case for why Democrats should vote for Liz Cheney in a Republican primary for the sole reason that she hates former President Donald Trump just as much as they do.

“I would say if they’re smart and they really want to hold someone with integrity to hold on to that seat, that they should vote for her,” Lemon said before turning to Scott Jennings who is the one person on CNN who has any common sense, and an IQ above 70.

“Does that make sense to you, Scott? I mean, what do you think?” Lemon asked pleading to Jennings.

Jennings reasoned that it’s “probably the only strategy Cheney can employ in order to try to win this primary. So, I understand why she’s doing it.”

“It’s funny to me having worked for the Bush-Cheney administration the idea of Democrats turning out to vote for a Cheney” Jennings joked before noting that he thought “it’s unlikely that enough Democrats would do that but if you’re a Democrat and you truly believe that the democracy is on the line, it’s hanging by a thread, or what have you then this would be a vote you could cast. I find it a long shot in Wyoming but certainly, it’s a strategy if I were running her campaign I would employ, no doubt.”

Lemon is now using CNN’s airwaves to lobby for Democrats to sabotage the Republican primaries in Wyoming. Keep in mind the leftist media melted down when conservative talk radio legend Rush Limbaugh launched “Operation Chaos” and encouraged his listeners to switch parties and vote for Hillary Clinton in the 2008 Democratic Primaries to prolong the process.

Luckily Lemon has a dwindling number of viewers, and probably not enough in Wyoming to even tilt a small-town mayoral race.

NIA-MALIKA HENDERSON: Liz Cheney is doing well in terms of raising tons of money but we all know that that doesn’t necessarily translate to votes. She’s essentially kind of pleaded with Democrats to cross over and help her win this primary in August because she knows that the writing is on the wall for her. We saw this already.

DON LEMON: That makes sense. Why wouldn’t they do it? I mean if they really cared they should do it!

HENDERSON: And they might. They might but the idea you’re going to amass enough Democrats to do that is a little unlikely, maybe. We’ll see.

LEMON: I would say if they’re smart and they really want to hold someone with integrity to hold on to that seat, that they should vote for her. Does that make sense to you, Scott? I mean, what do you think?

SCOTT JENNINGS: Well it’s the—it’s the, probably the only strategy Cheney can employ in order to try to win this primary. So, I understand why she’s doing it. It’s funny to me having worked for the Bush-Cheney administration the idea of Democrats turning out to vote for a Cheney.

[laughing]

LEMON: I know! We’re in the twilight zone right now Scott!

[crosstalk]

JENNINGS: I know, I know, I know. I agree with Nia. I think it’s unlikely that enough Democrats would do that but if you’re a Democrat and you truly believe that the democracy is on the line, it’s hanging by a thread, or what have you then this would be a vote you could cast. I find it a long shot in Wyoming but certainly, it’s a strategy if I were running her campaign I would employ, no doubt.
