The View’s ‘Conservative’ Eager for 2024 Dem Nominee ‘WE’ Can Push

Political News

Former Trump White House official turned self-serving sellout, Alyssa Farah Griffin once again joined ABC’s The View on Tuesday to commiserate about the January 6 Committee hearings and bash the party she claims to still be a part of. And at the start of a conversation about potential 2024 nominees for both sides, Griffin slipped and seemingly announced she was interested in pushing a Democratic candidate. And co-host Sunny Hostin announced her primary requirement for a candidate is that they’re hot.

With co-host Whoopi Goldberg kicking off the segment fretting that former President Trump would run again in 2024, Griffin noted that inflation, gas prices, the tumbling stock market, and his advanced age were bad news for President Biden. She soon pivoted to asking about who the Democrats would put up and flashed her interest in pushing them as her candidate.

“I’m curious. Like who are the Dems going to run? Where is like the Obama energy that we could bring?” she asked the liberal cast. She caught what she said and quickly tried to walk it back, adding, “That you guys could bring.”

Goldberg responded by suggesting we don’t “need Obama energy” but rather someone who can get the country “in line.”

Would those be gas lines, bread lines, unemployment lines, or all of the above?

Hostin chimed in to pop off on who she doesn’t want to see as the GOP nominee, that being “fascist” and “bigot” Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis. She also threw around an unoriginal nickname for him:

HOSTIN: I hope it’s no DeathSantis. I hope it’s no DeathSantis over in Florida because I think he’s a fascist—

JOY BEHAR: What did you call him? DeathSantis?

HOSTIN: DeathSantis. I think he handled COVID miserably. I think he’s a fascist and a bigot.

“Those are his good points,” co-host Joy Behar declared with a big proud smile on her face thinking she said something witty.

So, who would Hostin love to see win the Democratic nomination? “There are plenty of, you know, Democrats that have tons of verve and energy. I mean, I like Gavin Newsom because he’s really pretty to look at,” she rhetorically squealed. “I think he does a great job in California.”

Announcing you’d be voting for someone because you think they’re hot… Imagine if this was a dude saying that about a female politician. That’s not to mention that Newsom objectively handled COVID worse than DeSantis.

Hostin also said she’d love a “Kamala and Pete Buttigieg ticket.” “Do you think they could win, really?” Behar seemed to scoff (remember Vice President Harris dropped out before the 2020 primaries even started and Secretary Buttigieg only won Iowa). “Well, I would vote for them,” Hostin blurted out as if she spoke for the country.

Adding: “I think the brain power alone would just obliterate Trump or DeathSantis.”

With the play-off music sounding, Griffin squeezed in one parting comment declaring, “We deserve better options than two octogenarians…”

Well, this got Goldberg’s blood boiling as she called Griffin “ageist” and pushed the long-debunked lie that former President Ronald Reagan had Alzheimer’s while in office:

Ronald Reagan had Alzheimer’s as a younger man he was much younger than 80 and I don’t think that’s what’s going to make it happen. It’s not about your energy, it’s what you can get done.

And still wigging out about former Obama adviser David Axelrod calling Biden too old, Behar screeched about how he needed to “keep his mouth shut. You know what, Ronald Reagan’s rule was, thou shalt speak ill of a fellow Republican. And I say onto you David Axelrod, do not speak ill of a fellow Democrat!”

This eagerness to shill for a Democratic nominee for 2024 was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Olay and Ensure. Their contact information is linked.

ALYSSA FARAH GRIFFIN: I think anyone looking at their retirement account yesterday, looking at fuel prices, looking at inflation, not all of which, by the way, are Biden’s fault, that creates a path and a window for a Donald Trump to come back. In a kind of an asking the question of who’s best fit to beat Donald Trump because that man should never be president again, I’m not sure I think it’s Joe Biden.

And the fact that David Axelrod, senior Obama and Biden adviser came out and said, you know, he’s going to be 82, it’s not about age, I don’t think he has the same strength and sharpness I saw five years ago from Biden. And I have tremendous respect for the man.

I’m curious. Like who are the Dems going to run? Where is like the Obama energy that we could bring? That you guys could bring.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: I don’t think we need Obama energy we need somebody who can get the country back on, on line, in line, because, you know, if you can name me a Republican who has a shot to do that’s what I’m more interested in.

[Crosstalk]

SUNNY HOSTIN: I hope it’s no DeathSantis. I hope it’s no DeathSantis over in Florida because I think he’s a fascist—

JOY BEHAR: What did you call him? DeathSantis?

HOSTIN: DeathSantis. I think he handled COVID miserably. I think he’s a fascist and a bigot.

BEHAR [with a big proud smile on her face]: Those are his good points.

HOSTIN: Those are his good points. Exactly!

SARA HAINES: Don’t hold back Sunny!

BEHAR: Ba da bum.

[Laughter]

HOSTIN: And I hate this talk about, I think people saying that he’s too old, I mean, if the former, twice-impeached, disgraced president think he’s such a young spring chicken, I mean, he’s going to be 78 when Joe Biden is 81. And so, I don’t this ageism argument. But I will say.

BEHAR: That’s true.

[Crosstalk]

BEHAR: Biden, when he was here, I asked him; he works out every day, I don’t think Trump does. Take a look.

HOSTIN: I mean, take a look. Exactly. There are plenty of, you know, Democrats that have tons of verve and energy. I mean, I like Gavin Newsom because he’s really pretty to look at. I think he does a great job in California. I like a Kamala and Pete Buttigieg ticket.

HAINES: I love Pete Buttigieg.

HOSTIN: I think that looks great.

BEHAR: Do you think they could win, really?

HOSTIN: Well, I would vote for them. I hope this country is ready for something like that. I think the brain power alone would just obliterate Trump or DeathSantis.

GRIFFIN: I would just love to see a sane Republican run and I do think Pence is gearing up too, I think Pompeo is considering it. We deserve better options than two octogenarians who, one tried to overthrow the government.

GOLDBERG: Ooo. I have to tell you, it’s the age. You’re being ageist. And I’m going to say it. Ronald Reagan had Alzheimer’s as a younger man he was much younger than 80 and I don’t think that’s what’s going to make it happen. It’s not about your energy, it’s what you can get done.

BEHAR: Can I add one thing?

GOLDBERG: Say it really fast.

BEHAR: David Axelrod should keep his mouth shut. You know what, Ronald Reagan’s rule was, thou shalt speak ill of a fellow Republican. And I say onto you David Axelrod, do not speak ill of a fellow Democrat.

GOLDBERG: There we go.
