Univision On-Air Editorial at Border Calls for ‘Comprehensive Immigration Reform’

Political News

As migrants continued to rush to the U.S. southern border ahead of a potential removal of Title 42, Univision anchor Ilia Calderón called for “comprehensive immigration reform” in a rare on-air editorial.

Watch as Calderón, on behalf of her network, openly advocates for immigration policy:

The truth is that with every story we tell here at the border, we confirm the need for the United States to pass a comprehensive immigration reform. And also, for the governments in our countries in Latin America to do what is necessary in order to end the violence and control the corruption- put an end to the corruption that is plundering the resources of our peoples, the resources for the future of these children.

The on-air editorial is not entirely surprising. This is the same network whose star anchor admitted that its long-term success depends on an open border, and which filed an amicus brief before the United States Supreme Court in defense of DACA. The current border disaster, then, is a big deal made huge if Title 42 is lifted.

It is unclear what effect a comprehensive immigration reform that is to Univision’s liking might have on the current border crisis except to potentially encourage more of it, and ultimately, more clicks and eyeballs. But the situation will not change so long as the border remains unsecured.
