‘Drinking cow’s milk is like driving a gas guzzler’: PETA chides Elon Musk for saying that he likes chocolate milk

Breaking News

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals scolded billionaire business magnate Elon Musk for a tweet in which he declared that he had enjoyed drinking some chocolate milk.

“Chocolate milk is insanely good. Just had some,” Musk declared on Monday.

But PETA pounced on Musk’s seemingly innocuous tweet and asserted that consuming cow’s milk is bad for the environment.

“Drinking cow’s milk is like driving a gas guzzler. The dairy industry is one of the worst contributors to the climate catastrophe. What happened to caring about the environment? Now chocolate oat milk we can get behind,” PETA tweeted.

Climate alarmists often advocate for transitioning away from gas-powered vehicles and toward the adoption of more electric cars.

Musk is the co-founder and CEO of Tesla, a company known for its popular electric vehicles.

“Putting people down for not doing EVERYTHING they can to support a certain issue is annoying and makes many people not want to do ANYTHING just for spite. Food for thought,” someone tweeted in response to PETA’s post about Musk.

But PETA replied, “If Musk was doing ‘everything’ he could to help the planet, he certainty wouldn’t be consuming cow’s milk. The best thing that we can all do to help combat the climate catastrophe is to #GoVegan.”

PETA describes itself as “the largest animal rights organization in the world” and says that it “opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview, and focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: in laboratories, in the food industry, in the clothing trade, and in the entertainment business.”

Actor James Cromwell participated in a PETA protest at a Starbucks in New York City on Tuesday, decrying the chain for charging extra for vegan milk.

“When will you stop raking in huge profits while customers, animals, and the environment suffer?” Cromwell said.

Musk, who plans on purchasing Twitter and transforming it into a platform that allows free speech within the confines of the law, made headlines on Tuesday when he spoke against the social media company’s move to permanently banish then-President Donald Trump from the platform in 2021. Musk said that he believes that permanent bans “undermine trust” in the platform as a place where everyone can disseminate their views.
