It is anticipated that Hillary Clinton will deliver remarks at the upcoming New York State Democratic Party Convention, CNBC has reported, citing individuals familiar with the issue.

“She’s beloved by the mainstream members of the Democratic Party and her popularity is likely higher than that of President Biden. It’s good for her because it keeps her relevant and her appearance is likely meant to galvanize the party and the audience,” noted one of the individuals who claimed that Clinton is slated to speak, according to the outlet.

Clinton, who previously served as a U.S. senator from the Empire State, later served as secretary of state during a portion of President Obama’s tenure. When Clinton was the Democratic presidential nominee during the 2020 election, she lost to Republican candidate Donald Trump.

“We’ve reached out to a number of people to speak and, you know, we’re waiting back on confirmation from a number of people. So there are a few things in the works,” Chris Melnyczuk, chief of staff to the chair of the New York State Democratic Party, told CNBC. “We’ve reached out to a number of folks, we’re not going to say who we’ve reached out to,” he responded when asked if Clinton had been invited to deliver remarks.

Clinton is slated to speak at the New York State Democratic Committee’s Nominating Convention next week on Feb. 17, a source told the New York Post.

At the 2018 convention, Clinton delivered remarks backing then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

In an opinion piece last month, Doug Schoen and Andrew Stein suggested that Clinton is probably the Democratic Party’s best prospect to win the 2024 presidential contest.

“Several circumstances—President Biden’s low approval rating, doubts over his capacity to run for re-election at 82, Vice President Kamala Harris’s unpopularity, and the absence of another strong Democrat to lead the ticket in 2024—have created a leadership vacuum in the party, which Mrs. Clinton viably could fill,” Schoen and Stein opined. “If Democrats want a fighting chance at winning the presidency in 2024, Mrs. Clinton is likely their best option.”
