‘Do You Feel Safe?’ MSNBC’s Cross Suggests Boebert Might Shoot Democrats

Political News

On her Saturday morning MSNBC show The Cross Connection, Tiffany Cross seemed to imply the possibility that Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (CO) might shoot a Democrat congressman, further illustrating the dangerous and toxic levels of rhetoric some in the liberal media will stoop to in order to ensure their audiences hate their fellow Americans.

Interviewing House Democratic Caucus Chair Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Cross said:

You know, gun violence keeps happening. You’re working alongside gun enthusiasts, like Congresswoman Lauren Boebert who made, you know, her carrying her gun to work on Capitol Hill a part of her campaign…She’s made threatening comments, she’s made insulting comments..[W]ith the — the discord happening on Capitol Hill right now, do you feel safe working on Capitol Hill alongside people who are provocateurs, and some of that provoking led to the violence that we saw happen on January 6th?

In response, Jeffries gave a mixed message. First, he argued that he did thanks to Capitol Police:

Well, I do feel safe, and I’m thankful for the work of the men and women of the Capitol Hill police force, who as we saw on January 6th, put their lives on the line to defend the Congress, the Capitol, the Constitution and the country from that violent attack that was provoked and incited by the former President of the United States of America.

Wait a second. Was he suggesting that he needs the police to prevent Boebert from shooting him?

But then, on the other hand, Jeffries denounced “the reckless and radical divisive and dangerous rhetoric that continues to come from people on the other side of the aisle” and argued they “need to be held accountable” because “[w]e need Republican leadership to act in a responsible way and stop burying their heads in the sand before they get someone killed.”

Again, did Jeffries mean to imply that unless Republican leadership acts, Boebert or another Republican might kill someone?

Note how, like all good liberals, Cross speaks of “gun violence happening.” As if it’s a spontaneous, non-anthropogenic, event, disconnected from the criminals responsible for the violence.

TIFFANY CROSS: I want to ask because this — you know, gun violence keeps happening. You’re working alongside gun enthusiasts, like Congresswoman Lauren Boebert who made, you know, her carrying her gun to work on Capitol Hill a part of her campaign, quite frankly.

She’s made threatening comments, she’s made insulting comments about some of your fellow colleagues. I’m just curious with the — the discord happening on Capitol Hill right now, do you feel safe working on Capitol Hill alongside people who are provocateurs, and some of that provoking led to the violence that we saw happen on January 6th?

HAKEEM JEFFRIES: Well, I do feel safe, and I’m thankful for the work of the men and women of the Capitol Hill police force, who as we saw on January 6th, put their lives on the line to defend the Congress, the Capitol, the Constitution and the country from that violent attack that was provoked and incited by the former President of the United States of America.

But we do need an end to the reckless and radical divisive and dangerous rhetoric that continues to come from people on the other side of the aisle, whether that’s Marjorie Taylor Greene, or Lauren Bobert, or Paul Gosar.

It’s endless in terms of the vitriol that we’ve seen. They need to be held accountable. Some of them have. Some of them will be. We also need Republican leadership to act in a responsible way and stop burying their heads in the sand before they get someone killed.
