The acting chief of the Capitol Police said that members of the militias that rioted on Jan. 6 are plotting to blow up the Capitol building during President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address in order to kill many members of Congress.
Acting chief Yogananda Pittman made the comments during her testimony via teleconference on Thursday at a House hearing about the Capitol rioting.
“We know that members of militia groups that were present on Jan. 6 have stated their desires that they want to blow up the Capitol and kill as many members as possible with a direct nexus to the State of the Union, which we know that date has not been identified,” Pittman said.
“So based on that information, we think that it’s prudent that Capitol Police maintain its enhanced and robust security posture until we address those vulnerabilities going forward,” she added.
About 5,000 National Guard troops are expected to continue to protect the Capitol until March.
Pittman rejected accusations that her department had ignored intelligence that warned of an attack to the scale that materialized on Jan. 6.
“The department was not ignorant of intelligence indicating an attack of the size and scale we encountered on the 6th. There was no such intelligence,” she said.
“Although we knew the likelihood for violence by extremists,” she explained, “no credible threat indicated that tens of thousands would attack the U.S. Capitol, nor did the intelligence received from the FBI or any other law enforcement partner indicate such a threat.”
Pittman also told members of the House Appropriations subcommittee that while some of the rioters were organized, many others were simply regular everyday Americans who were angry and acted with a mob-like mentality. Pittman said that the Capitol Police were not prepared to deal with the latter.

If Trump had been urging people to violence for months like the Democrats claim then it should have been obvious enough for the DC police to spot and they should have been ready for it.

Maybe Yogananda Pittman should spend a little more time being a policeman and little less time being a politician. Afterall Yogananda, if you’re just the acting chief, I would think it’s imperative you work just a little harder at being a policeman, if you want to turn that acting position into a full-time position. Another thing that would be simply amazing is to see people like her, supposedly in positions of leadership, saying things that they know to be true, rather than constantly making up fanciful stories and calling them fact. Sorry. I should know better than to suggest honest discourse.
I only counted THREE flat out lies in the headline quote.
1. Even the small % of those in Washington DC on Jan 6 that actually engaged in violence didn’t come close to being A militia, much less militias.
2. Biden isn’t giving a State of the Union address.
3. Unless they hid explosives the National Guard, Secret Service, and Capital Police can’t find in more than 2 months, when they are specifically looking, how do you blow up a building you can’t get within sight of BECAUSE of the above groups.
Very few of those ‘tens of thousands’ had any part of the rioter on Jan 6. The vast bulk of the truly peaceful protesters, were just that. You can’t blame them any more than you can blame the truly peaceful protesters across the country this past year for the ‘mostly peaceful’ rioters who snuck out, mostly in the dark, to riot, loot, and destroy government buildings, private businesses, (mostly in the neighborhoods owned by resident of the same neighborhood), and property. Can somebody just tell the complete truth? Just once in a while?

For an acting Chief she really does not know how our government works. There is no Statr of the Union address made by an incoming President. MR. Biden may address congress but it is not officially a State of the Union until the following January or Feburary. She needs to get her facts straight, secondly information of an impending assault on the Capitol or Vongess is never broadcast for fear of notifying the so called attackers of preparedness being taken by law enforcement. She needs to shut up and let real law enforcement like the F.B.I or Justice deal with any impending assault. Trump supporters so thoroughly rejected the violence on Jan 6th, that they refused to participate in future planned protests on Inauguration Day and at state Capitols around the country. Nothing happened! Trump supporters stayed home knowing there was a potential for more chaos from other interlopers.
The Republicans reaction and condemnation of the violence on Jan 6, is so far removed from the support that democrats and the media give BLM and Antifa. Instead of condemnation, Democrat leaders name streets and plazas after BLM, while contributing millions of dollars that help promote an openly Marxist agenda.
By definition, these groups are terrorists—using violence as intimidation to advance a political agenda. They’re not only terrorists, they’re seditionists, which makes them insurrectionist. This means that every democrat politician who has justified the violence and lent support to BLM or Antifa, has violated the 14th Amendment, section 3, of the Constitution—which prohibits any public official from aiding or abetting any person or group advocating rebellion against the US government.
The ONLY militias that are a danger are BLM & ANTIFA and other Leftist groups. No Right wing or Conservative group is willing to destroy any of our Government building.
