LAREDO, TEXAS – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Zapata Station assisted Zapata County Sheriff’s Office (ZCSO) in the arrest of 13 individuals found inside a stash house in Zapata, Texas.

The incident occurred on the morning of May 18, when ZCSO requested Service canine assistance for possible narcotics activity at a residence.  The investigation did not produce narcotics, but 13 individuals were discovered inside the home.  All were determined to be illegally in the United States from the country of Mexico.  The 13 individuals were arrested by Border Patrol and transported to the Zapata Station pending further investigation.

Despite the ongoing international pandemic, U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Laredo Sector continue to stand at the ready to secure the nation’s borders and prevent the flow of illegal immigration, the exploitation by human smugglers, and the spread of COVID-19.

To report suspicious activity such as alien and/or drug smuggling, download the “USBP Laredo Sector” App or contact the Laredo Sector Border Patrol toll free at 1-800-343-1994.
